Wall niche located up high in two story space. Hard to become to and dust. :-( #wallniche
I suppose builders installed them to create interest and depth in these tall spaces we take.
Even so, nigh times, they create decorating problems and chop upwards the space unnecessarily.
Y'all take to dream up some kind of system of stuff or something to hang in them. And commonly, they're up high, so yous'll never exist able to dust or make clean upwardly there properly.
Another high wall niche in an entry hall. Hard to reach to dust properly. #wallniche

Ah yeah, the dusty bloom arrangement. Perfect for a niche that is 16' upwards off the ground. And those A/C vents look really nice featured in the niche, right? :-( #wallniche
Got some random space in the wall? Why not put a niche for a bunch of little objects. (not) #wallniche
I have a niche in my house too.
It's right at the meridian of the stairs. It backs upward to my girl'southward bathroom we remodeled a few years ago. You tin can see the niche in the floor plan at that link.
When we lived in Norway, I nerveless a few unique antiques to bring back with me to remind united states of those years spent in that location.
One of the items was an old birch backpack, formerly used to assemble blueberries, with blueberry stains yet inside.
In Norway, wild blueberry picking in the summer is popular. They have lots of wild blueberry bushes in the underbrush in certain areas, and my family and I would gather some ourselves with our special blueberry picker. :-)
So, when I brought that backpack home to Houston, I wanted a special place to hang it. Actually, this niche was platonic.
It was the perfect size, and kind of protected the backpack past having it recessed in the wall. I paired it with some old water ice skates, some Norwegian carved cups, and an antique Norwegian nutrient box. It actually makes a nice little family retention nook.
Okay, and so not all niches are bad. :-)
If you take some specific piece of art or antiquarian or special object to feature, putting it in a niche can be nice, if information technology fits properly. #wallniche

Bad-mannered niche higher up the fireplace needs attending. What to do??? carlaaston.com
Get some shutters to embrace the niche, brand certain they overlap all the edges. They tin can be old and antique or new, painted a color or left as a natural woods cease. Then peak with a wreath, and round mirror, or peradventure even a slice of fine art! carlaaston.com
That is ordinarily the large trouble with niches, isn't it? Figuring how to fill them with a lot of unnecessary grit-catching stuff! Honestly, not sure what the builder had in mind when this was built out.
I suggested she get some old shutters and just hang them to cover up the niche. Then, she doesn't have to get it patched upwards with sheetrock and have dust and sanding and a painter in her house.
Like shooting fish in a barrel fix, no? :-)
And then she tin can hang a pretty wreath, a nice circular mirror or whatsoever on top if she wants. And there are all kinds of cool shutters out there with chippy pigment that are even painted unique colors too.
Please pin my pin here to Pinterest to help spread the word about wall niches. :-)
